BANNER ELK – The Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce announces programming for the annual Small Town Christmas Weekend, which will be held downtown (and near downtown) at Banner Elk from December 3-5. The schedule below will likely have additions and an updated schedule can be found on the House’s website at www.bannerelk.org/small-town-christmas-weekend.html.

All weekend – Santa’s mailbox accepts letters to Santa at the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce Children can write letters to the chamber during opening hours; see bannerelk.org for current times (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Christmas at Apple Hill Farm

  • 6:30 p.m. – Tree lighting at the corner of Main Street
  • 7:00 p.m. – Ensemble Stage: “A Banner Elk Christmas” – A holiday variety show

• 9 a.m. – 5 km reindeer race in Tate-Evans Park with the YMCA Williams and the Kiwanis Club of Banner Elk (register at bit.ly/3FDkFTz. Registration and withdrawal of packages at 8 a.m.)

  • 10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Christmas at Apple Hill Farm

  • 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – Breakfast with Santa Claus at the Stonewalls restaurant
  • 10:30 a.m. – Storytime with Santa and Fire Truck Tour at Banner Elk Fire and Rescue Station
  • 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Christmas market and craft activities for children (times may vary) Cultural Arts Center at Historic Banner Elk School
  • 3 p.m. – Christmas carols at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church
  • 6 p.m. – Christmas festivities at Tate-Evans Park including: lighted train rides, synchronized Christmas light show, Christmas movie at the amphitheater, hot chocolate and more!
  • 10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Christmas at Apple Hill Farm
  • 2:00 pm – Ensemble Scene: “A Banner Elk Christmas” – A holiday variety show
  • All Day – Check out local Banner Elk stores and visit one of Avery County’s select and cut Christmas tree farms
