Bardstown draws a lot of attention for its idyllic character, but this charming little Kentucky town is more than just a pretty face – it’s the quintessential southern town. You see, when you visit Bardstown, Kentucky, you can expect to be warmly welcomed into the most From South of routes. From incredible restaurants and distilleries to iconic attractions and historic city architecture, this small Kentucky town is at the pinnacle of Southern vibes!

Bardstown is a small town of approximately 13,000 people in the heart of central Kentucky.

Bardstown is the darling of Kentucky’s small towns, repeatedly appearing on “best of” lists for its alluring beauty and charms.

But Bardstown isn’t just a superlative little town; it’s *the* quintessence *From South* small town.

For starters, Bardstown is filled with buildings and sites of incredible historical significance. My Old Kentucky Home, for example, is a state park with one of the South’s most iconic buildings, Federal Hill, a former plantation home owned by U.S. Senator John Rowan in 1795.

The city is also home to some of the country’s best-known distilleries, including the iconic Jim Beam.

(And these distilleries are located in some of the most scenic pastoral land in the South! It’s the pinnacle of Bluegrass beauty.)

Like any proud Southern town, Bardstown celebrates its history. In the downtown district, you’ll find some of the state’s most historic buildings, like The Old Talbott Tavern, the oldest bourbon bar in the country!

The city is also home to many restaurants where you can stock up on Southern cuisine. It doesn’t get more classic (and deliciously!) Southern than Old Talbott Tavern’s Fried Chicken Plate!

And if you’re looking for *porch culture* which defines the South, you will find it in Bardstown. Hadorn’s Bakery is a local favorite, and you’ll often find people gathering on the porch, sipping sweet tea and just enjoying each other’s company.

There is a slower pace of life here in Bardstown; it is a place that invites people to come, stay and enjoy. To that end, you’ll almost always find some sort of event or festival held in Bardstown, a place that celebrates community and good old-fashioned family values.
